Joan Marc Simon is the Director of Zero Waste Europe. He has been a leading voice for Zero Waste in Europe since 2007, dramatically increasing the visibility and policy impact of Zero Waste efforts in this time. He is a regular keynote speaker in many industry and NGO meetings in Brussels but also at local level as well as internationally. He has authored the Zero Waste Case Studies “The Story of Contarina” and “The Story of Gipuzkoa” as well as the book “Zero Waste – How to reactivate the economy without trashing the planet”. He is trained in Economics and Development Cooperation, and has more than 10 years of experience working with governmental and non-governmental organisations in the field of good governance, new economics, social justice, and environment.

Erika Oblak has been working for 17 years in environmental NGOs, with the focus on waste management and introduction of various aspects of Zero Waste concept to municipalities. Over the last 3 years she's coordinated Zero Waste Slovenia program, helped 8 slovenian towns and cities adopting their Zero Waste strategies, managed separate collection and waste prevention projects for hotels, public events and nurseries. Erika also advocates the transition to circular economy, global equity in the distribution of natural resources and the related attitude to indigenous communities.

Gabriele Folli, formerly activist in Zero Waste campaigns, he was appointed Deputy Mayor for Environment in the city of Parma (Italy) in 2012, where has introduced kerbside collection and a pay-as-you-throw scheme for the whole population (195,000 inhabitants; the first case of this size in Italy) passing from 48% to 80% in less than 5 years.
